About The Position

As a Maintenance Technician for the Publix Bakery Plant in Atlanta, Georgia, you will utilize state-of-the-art instruments and industry best standards to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and improve the performance of a wide array of equipment. The Bakery Plant produces award-winning products such as breads, rolls, cookies, pies, cakes, muffins, danish, dry mixes, fillings, icings, and glazes. This role is crucial for the plant to produce the volume and quality of products needed to serve customers. The position offered can be Maintenance Technician Class A, B, or C, contingent upon the candidate's qualifications and work experience.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years old
  • Basic mechanical and electrical aptitude
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools and tool use

  • Willingness to complete a mechanical aptitude test (on or before hire date)

  • Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electro-mechanical components and systems
  • Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing pneumatic components and systems
  • Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing hydraulic components and systems
  • Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing process instrumentation
  • Experience maintaining programmable logic controllers (PLCs)
  • Experience troubleshooting programmable logic controllers (PLCs)
  • Documented PLC and instrumentation training
  • Experience maintaining 480V C3 motor starters, variable frequency drives, and distribution systems
  • Experience troubleshooting 480V C3 motor starters, variable frequency drives, and distribution systems
  • Degree or certification from a recognized industrial maintenance or millwright training program
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and drawings
  • Experience testing, operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining reverse osmosis (RO), carbon filtration, wastewater pH correction, and UV and ozone treatment systems
  • Experience in cleaning and maintaining water delivery systems; including valves, pumps and piping
  • Experience inspecting back flow preventers for proper operation
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to train others
  • Previous food plant experience

Responsibilities

  • Develop a knowledge base of plant maintenance including: maintain troubleshoot, repair, and improve the mechanical processes of the equipment/facilities at the Manufacturing plant
  • Perform preventative maintenance and predictive maintenance of process equipment throughout the plant
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment
  • Create requisitions needed for parts and supplies
  • Build steel, stainless steel and aluminum fabrications as required for process improvement
  • Weld stick, TIG, sanitary TIG, and Mig
  • Troubleshoot PLC and computer-controlled devices
  • Perform minor plumbing, building repair, and maintenance
  • Read and interpret schematics and drawings
  • Operate forklift, high lift, etc.
  • Perform housekeeping duties in the work area and assist with other duties as assigned
