About The Position

The Maintenance Technician may perform work involving the skills of two or more maintenance or craft occupations to maintain the effective operation of the Haven for Hope property. Ranging from routine maintenance of all necessary equipment used and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed to maintain the physical conditions of the buildings and grounds of the campus.

Requirements

Minimum: High School Graduate or GED
5 years General Maintenance
Knowledge of safety, OSHA regulations
Knowledge of construction/maintenance repairs and procedures in general maintenance
Considerable knowledge of all tools and equipment used in various trades
Skill in effective planning and organizing maintenance activities
Ability to promote efficiency, teamwork and interaction with staff and partners
Skills in oral and written communication and computer literacy
Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License, a good driving record, reliable transportation and proper insurance coverage on automobile used for work.

Nice To Haves

A current, valid Plumber or Electrician or HVAC license from the State of Texas or the City of San Antonio
Completion of the Carpenter Apprenticeship Certification process as recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor or Carpenter’s Union
Equivalent training and/or certification, licensing etc., locksmith or painting

Responsibilities

Use of tools ranging from common hand or power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saw drills or wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices
Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure building systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition of the buildings does not deteriorate.
Inspect, operate or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.
Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them in order for it to be operational order.
Replace and repair lawn equipment, equipment parts, using hand tools, power tools and reassemble equipment.
Inspect grounds daily to ensure adequate upkeep, notes for needed improvements.
Maintains the work area free of trash or hazardous conditions
Keeps inventory of equipment
Other duties as assigned by supervisor
