About The Position

Travis Hyde Properties is a local property management company that has been serving the Ithaca Community for 45 years. We maintain a friendly family atmosphere in our company. We all work for our tenants and strive to keep them happy. A skilled and experienced Maintenance Technician is responsible for keeping buildings, equipment, and building systems in good working order. A Maintenance Technician takes prior in a job well done and will possess the skills necessary to maintain, repair or replace, including but not limited to, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC systems, and basic electrical repairs. Most possess excellent time management and organization skills, good customer services and a positive team-oriented attitude. The Maintenance Technician reports to the Asset Manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, additional education or certification in facility management or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of building systems and maintenance procedures.
  • Physically able to lift, move or carry items weighing over 50 pounds.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to stand, walk and bend for extended periods.
  • Work is performed indoors and outdoors in all types of weather.
  • Must be able to shovel snow.
  • Close attention to detail

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in using maintenance management software and Microsoft Office Suites is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with the Asset Manager and the Property Managers to maintain efficient operation of the building and the grounds.
  • Perform manual repairs (fix locks, replace windows etc.)
  • Conduct general upkeep procedures and other tasks as assigned.
  • Maintain heating and plumbing systems to ensure functionality.
  • Perform maintenance of electrical systems (replace light bulbs and sockets etc.)
  • Conduct property walks and inspections and identify areas needing attention.
  • Complete work orders in a timely fashion through the property manager software
  • Ensure compliance with building safety codes.
  • Available to work an on-call rotation, including nights and weekends.
  • Possess tools used to assemble, disassemble, and repair various projects.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
