About The Position

The Van Drunen Family of Companies is growing! JOB OVERVIEW: The Maintenance Technician has responsibility to keep the plant running smoothly and efficiently with a particular focus on maintaining and attending the high-speed packaging equipment. In addition to taking responsibility for the machine maintenance, the technician works together with the Maintenance Supervisor, Production Supervisors and Leaders, other Maintenance Technicians, and the broader team to identify and execute ideas to continuously improve production. This position requires exceptional mechanical, electrical, controls, and troubleshooting skills with a problem-solving approach.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience in building maintenance, construction, or similar field
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Ability to use power tools (drill, grinder, impact, saw, etc.).
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Significant Mechanical and Electrical background
  • Developed listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and detail skills
  • Must be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
  • Must be a problem-solver who uses good judgement
  • Proficiency in computer skills including central maintenance management systems (CMMS), preferably FIXX.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred
  • Basic refrigeration knowledge preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance and support plant high-speed packaging line(s) to maximize equipment availability and optimize performance, yield, and costs.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and mechanical equipment problems including basic programming and PLC’s.
  • Assist in the planning process by identifying improvement ideas, spare parts, and work required to optimize the maintenance and upkeep of high-speed packaging equipment throughout the facility.
  • Optimize overall equipment effectiveness by improving reliability, process capability, and machine rate while maintaining and improving safety and quality standards.
  • Work with the machine operators to provide feedback, education, and expertise on machine operation and basic troubleshooting.
  • Complete all building related work orders, and routine and preventative maintenance as required
  • Ensure structure is secure and maintained per quality standards
  • Responsible for exterior repairs including fencing, windows, doors, roof, and etc.
  • Troubleshoot electrical problems and repair as necessary
  • Work with the broader maintenance team to complete more complicated tasks
  • Work with the production crew as needed to ensure compatibility of equipment with production needs
  • Evaluate production line processes and help identify opportunities for improvement
  • Maintain reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs, and changeovers
  • Improve process capability and production volume while maintaining and improving quality standards
  • Develop and implement systems that optimize all phases of production process
  • Work with equipment designers and manufacturers to develop a cost-effective and working production process
  • Work with contractors as needed to perform duties on projects
  • Other duties as assigned
