About The Position

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing the facility’s mechanical, HVAC/R, plumbing, or building management systems. This role involves ensuring all scheduled maintenance and repairs are completed, and that all mechanical, HVAC, and plumbing systems comply with Federal, State, and Local code requirements. The technician will participate in work planning, identify and resolve problems, monitor workflow, and evaluate work projects. They will use and maintain various Building Automation Systems (BAS) platforms to monitor and maintain HVAC and mechanical equipment, and assist in developing sequence of operations for HVAC equipment to optimize efficiencies. Responding to emergency alarms and building automation systems, determining root causes of deficiencies, and making necessary repairs are also key aspects of the role. Maintaining a safe work environment, reporting discrepancies, and utilizing maintenance software for work orders are essential. The technician will also assist in developing standard operation procedures.

Requirements

  • HVAC/R degree
  • EPA certification
  • 5 years of comprehensive knowledge of all phases of building systems, thorough knowledge of compliance requirements in mechanical, plumbing and HVAC.
  • Excellent diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to read, write and understand complex direction.
  • Ability to read, decipher blueprints, schematics and construction specification and technical documents.
  • Effective communicator, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse team.
  • Work effectively under pressure to meet business deadlines.
  • Adaptable through change.

  • Experience working in a large scale facility.
  • Certification to operate a forklift and man lifts.
  • Experience working on water source HP, VAV/FPB systems, and VRF Equipment

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintenance, repairs, and operations of mechanical and plumbing equipment, HVAC, refrigeration, cooling towers, boilers, water pumps and building control systems.
  • Perform and/or ensure all scheduled maintenance and repairs are completed.
  • Ensure all mechanical, HVAC, plumbing systems including repair and /or construction work is completed in accordance with Federal, State and Local code compliance requirements.
  • Participate in work planning for facility maintenance and operations; identify and resolve problems; monitor workflow; review and evaluate work projects, methods and procedures.
  • Use and maintain various BAS platforms to monitor and maintain HVAC and mechanical equipment.
  • Assist with updating and developing sequence of operations for various HVAC equipment to optimize efficiencies and performance of equipment.
  • Respond to emergency alarms, building automation systems and the like.
  • Determine root causes of any mechanical, HVAC, plumbing deficiencies, make necessary repairs to remedy the malfunction using appropriate tools.
  • Maintain a safe work environment, ensures safety precautions are taken at all times.
  • Report discrepancies, damage, and loss of property and safety concerns promptly following reporting procedures.
  • Utilize maintenance software system to interpret and prioritize work orders.
  • Executes work orders to ensure event needs are met in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Assist in the development of standard operation procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
