This Maintenance Technician role involves overseeing and coordinating activities related to maintaining and repairing the physical structures of buildings and grounds, ensuring the facility's mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, plumbing, automotive, and HVAC systems are in good working order, and performing routine and preventative maintenance on equipment and vehicles.

Requirements

Knowledge of industrial/commercial mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, plumbing, construction, automotive and HVAC systems, as well as janitorial or grounds keeping duties.
Skills to make adjustments and/or repairs to the above systems, or in the case where construction or repairs require a specialist, direct the work to be done.
Ability to troubleshoot systems and make repairs.
Ability to guide employees in maintenance repairs.
One year certificate from a college or technical school.
Three to five years related experience and/or training.
Heavy emphasis on mechanical and electrical training such as machine shop, and electrical/electronic repair.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and advanced blueprint reading.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to solve practical problems in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Must wear company approved safety glasses or goggles.
Must wear company approved steel ESD toe shoes.
Must wear appropriate hand protection.
Must wear ear protection in designated areas.
Must wear appropriate clothing.
Must wear other safety equipment as required.

Responsibilities

Performs or directs others, including external 3rd parties, in maintaining the facility’s mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, plumbing, automotive and HVAC systems.
Maintains or directs others in maintaining company buildings, vehicles and grounds.
Installs / sets up new equipment and conducts routine maintenance.
Performs or oversees performance of preventative maintenance on all facility equipment and vehicles.
Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies.
Inspects completed work for conformance to blueprints, specifications, and standards.
Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
Establishes or adjusts work procedures to support production schedules.
Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew.
Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
Confers with Maintenance Manager to coordinate maintenance activities.
Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
Functions in a workplace of dignity and respect for all.
