About The Position

Chisholm Creek Pet Resort is looking for an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our team of pet lovers! The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining safe, clean, and fully functional environments across assigned pet resort locations. This role ensures that facilities, equipment, play yards, kennels, grooming areas, and support spaces meet operational, safety, and sanitation standards that protect dogs, clients, and team members. This is a critical frontline role that directly supports animal welfare, employee safety, regulatory compliance, and the overall client experience. Well-maintained facilities reduce risk, prevent injuries, uphold sanitation standards, and protect the integrity of Village Pet Care’s brand and operations. This is a full time position, with pay starting at $18-20 per hour depending on experience.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in maintenance, facilities, construction, janitorial, or a similar hands-on operational role preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, follow established procedures, and manage time effectively across multiple locations.
  • Comfortable working around animals, cleaning chemicals, tools, and in physically demanding environments.
  • Strong attention to safety, detail, and quality of work.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check; required for all Maintenance Technician roles and mandatory for any position with transport duties.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry 50+ pounds regularly.
  • Ability to climb ladders, bend, kneel, squat, and work at varying heights.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Regular exposure to cleaning chemicals, noise, water, pet waste, and animal dander.
  • Schedule may include weekends, holidays, early mornings, evenings, or on-call availability depending on operational needs.
  • Travel between locations may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Facility Maintenance & Repairs
  • Perform general building maintenance including minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, and structural repairs.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and routine inspections to identify safety risks, wear-and-tear, or operational concerns.
  • Assemble, repair, and adjust equipment, fixtures, gates, fencing, kennel components, and play-yard structures.
  • Apply caulk, paint, sealants, and rust-resistant coatings as needed.
  • Escalate complex, licensed, or regulated repairs to approved vendors and the Facilities Department in accordance with company policy.
  • Cleaning, Sanitation & Groundskeeping
  • Maintain sanitary conditions across all assigned spaces to reduce health, safety, and liability risk.
  • Clean and disinfect hard surfaces including walls, doors, gates, baseboards, drains, fixtures, and equipment using approved chemicals.
  • Sweep, mop, and spot-clean floors and walkways.
  • Pressure wash indoor and outdoor surfaces, including play yards, sidewalks, and building exteriors.
  • Perform groundskeeping tasks such as raking, leaf blowing, debris removal, and gutter and drain cleaning.
  • Mix, dilute, and handle cleaning chemicals in strict accordance with company policy, manufacturer instructions, and safety guidelines.
  • Multi-Site Support (if applicable)
  • Travel between assigned pet resort locations as needed.
  • Coordinate maintenance priorities with General Managers and the Facilities team.
  • Maintain basic maintenance records, inspection checklists, and supply tracking.
  • Pet Transport (designated roles only)
  • Safely operate a company vehicle to transport dogs between client homes and pet resort facilities.
  • Secure animals appropriately and follow all handling and safety protocols.
  • Perform basic vehicle inspections and maintain interior cleanliness.
  • Report mechanical or safety concerns promptly.
  • Interact professionally with clients during transport.
  • Safety, Compliance & Animal Welfare
  • Follow OSHA guidelines, company safety policies, and standard operating procedures.
  • Use ladders, power tools, and equipment safely and correctly.
  • Maintain awareness of dogs of varying sizes, breeds, and temperaments while performing work.
  • Immediately report hazards, injuries, incidents, or facility concerns.
  • Complete assigned canine behavioral and handling courses from The Dog Gurus.
  • Tools & Equipment
  • Utilize company-provided tools, equipment, cleaning chemicals, ladders, and safety gear.
  • Employee-owned tools may be used with management approval.
  • Tools must be maintained in safe working condition; tool repair or replacement programs may apply per company policy.
