About The Position

The Engineer is part of our engineering team and responsible for all technical operations at the hotel. This individual will troubleshoot and repair electrically run motors & devices, HVAC systems, carpentry projects, and plumbing projects, as well as minor automotive repairs and painting. Please note, we are hiring for the PM shift (3pm - 11pm.)

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with power tools use and safety
  • Ability to read and follow technical instructions on assembly of mechanical equipment, furniture and warning labels
  • Ability to communicate in English with guests, co-workers, and management
  • Valid driver's license iand clean motor vehicle record

Nice To Haves

  • Experience serving as a technician or engineer within a hotel or property management preferred

Responsibilities

  • Respond to and attend guest repair requests in a timely manner.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication.
  • Ensure each day’s activities and any issues are communicated to other shifts using approved communication programs and standards.
  • Demonstrate solid knowledge and skill in the safe use of hand and power tools and other materials required to perform repair and maintenance tasks.
  • Troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on all types of equipment, including pump and motor replacement, plumbing such as plunging toilets and unclogging drains, and electrical equipment including lamps, extension cords, gas fireplaces, vacuum cleaners, electrical switches, outlets, and other guest room items.
  • Assist with surface preparation and painting, minor drywall and wood trim repair, and light bulb and A/C filter replacement.
  • Utilize the Alice system to proactively perform maintenance work and respond to open and active maintenance tickets in a timely manner.
  • Perform entry to mid level troubleshooting of hotel Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems.
  • Assist with reasonable hotel operation requests; ie. set up and breakdown of property events, CAPEX project execution, and additional tasks deemed necessary by property management.
  • Perform general maintenance and repairs, including installing, removing, repairing, and maintaining landscape lighting, signs, cables, chains, gates, posts, fences, and rock walls.
  • Maintain the appearance of public areas by regularly inspecting the grounds and removing trash and debris, including raking, sweeping, and bagging leaves, dirt, and litter from driveways and sidewalks, and transporting trash to designated central collection points daily.
  • Perform additional duties, such as maintaining areas in the spa and hotel public spaces, as instructed by hotel leadership.
  • Move furniture as needed to support maintenance or operational needs.
  • Maintain and light fire pits daily when weather permits.
  • Use electronic devices supplied by Mayflower Inn & Spa, such as phones, earbuds, and radios, during work hours.
