About The Position

Polar Field Services, Inc. (PFS), based in Littleton, CO, is hiring a seasonal Maintenance Technician to support operations at Toolik Field Station on Alaska's North Slope. This role supports National Science Foundation–funded Arctic research by keeping station vehicles, power systems, and facilities running in a demanding Arctic environment. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years of mechanical and facilities maintenance experience
  • Experience with power generation equipment
  • Basic plumbing and electrical knowledge
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools and software
  • Valid U.S. driver's license
  • Ability to work long hours in extreme cold and a communal living environment

Nice To Haves

  • Field or polar experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, maintain, and repair heavy equipment, trucks, snowmobiles, small engines, and power generation equipment
  • Monitor and maintain station power systems and facilities (minor electrical, plumbing, heating, and appliances)
  • Perform fueling operations and maintain station fuel systems
  • Track service records, inventory, and resupply needs
  • Support retrograde preparation and general station operations
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, hazard-free workspace

Benefits

  • $38.33 – $40.00/hour
  • Overtime eligible (over 8 hours/day or 40 hours/week)
  • Typical 56-hour workweek
  • $4.22/hour Health & Welfare benefit (first 40 hours/week)
