About The Position

We are currently seeking a Maintenance Technician Lead to join our GFS Chemicals family at our McKinley Avenue campus in Columbus, Ohio. This is a leadership role responsible for leading complex maintenance projects, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring optimal operation of all facility systems. The Maintenance Technician Lead performs a variety of maintenance duties to reduce and prevent equipment down time, help with equipment installations, maintain building facilities, grounds upkeep, and drive continuous improvement in reliability and plant uptime. This role is responsible for performing preventative maintenance tasks as well as more complex maintenance and repair tasks with minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 7+ years of maintenance experience in an industrial or commercial setting preferred
  • 2+ years leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Professional certification in one or more relevant technical areas is required (electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical trades, boilers, etc.)
  • Experience in chemical, pharmaceutical, petrochemical, or similar processing environment preferred
  • CMMS experience (eMaint preferred)
  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and control systems
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and provide direction to others
  • Strong leadership and project management skills
  • Proven ability to train staff
  • Proven decision-making capabilities

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day maintenance operations
  • Lead troubleshooting and repair of advanced mechanical and electrical systems
  • Work with Maintenance Engineer/Planner to oversee execution of maintenance projects and upgrades
  • Escalates personnel issues to Maintenance Manager
  • Help to develop programs as well as train and mentor lower-level technicians
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintenance standards
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to improve system reliability with focus on continuous improvement
  • Commitment to house keeping
  • Manage on-site contractors
  • Utilize CMMS systems
  • Track work orders and maintenance activities
  • Perform root cause analysis on equipment failures
  • Identify improvements to increase equipment reliability
  • Responsible for constant, productive communication between maintenance and engineering managers to improve overall work and team efficiency.
  • Responsible for making day-to-day decisions in the field with limited management guidance where appropriate.
