About The Position

Recreation and Wellness Center: At the UCF Recreation and Wellness Center, we strive to provide a safe, clean, dependable, quality, and fun environment. These are goals we set for ourselves, for the facility, for our programs, and ultimately, for our students' experience. The Opportunity : The UCF Recreation and Wellness Center is currently accepting applications for a Maintenance Technician III. This role will oversee the upkeep of its indoor and outdoor state-of-the-art facilities, including wellness areas, pools, and sports fields. This role varies daily based on events and operational needs. The position includes supervisory responsibilities for a team of seven technicians within the department.

Requirements

  • Completion of an approved apprenticeship program for multiple trades and 4 years of relevant experience; or a high school diploma and 4 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6) .
  • Position requires a valid Class E driver’s license.
  • This position requires working in confined spaces, climbing ladders, and adapting to indoor and outdoor environments in varying conditions.
  • Applicant must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer, as sponsorship is not available for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated ability to lead or supervise maintenance teams, including training and performance management.
  • Knowledge of pool operations and maintenance; willingness to obtain Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification.
  • Proven ability to supervise and participate in troubleshooting, building, and installing mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret building plans, schematics, and technical diagrams for effective repairs and installations.
  • Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification or willingness to obtain upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a working supervisor, assisting with indoor and outdoor facility repairs and preventive maintenance across all systems—mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and vehicle maintenance.
  • Responsibilities include upkeep of outdoor sports fields, fitness equipment, and two swimming pools.
  • Perform tasks working in confined spaces, climbing ladders, and other physically demanding activities.
  • Adapt to varying conditions in both indoor and outdoor environments, ensuring operational readiness year-round.
  • Execute additional maintenance technician duties as needed to support facility operations.
  • Conduct comprehensive facility inspections, ensuring all repairs meet governing codes, ADA standards, and safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and reporting through Facility Operations (AiM).
  • Coordinate and liaise with external vendors for specialized repairs.
  • Oversee and maintain inventory of tools, parts, and supplies, ensuring availability for routine and emergency maintenance needs.
  • Assist the Maintenance Superintendent with specialty projects, renovations, and complex repairs, contributing technical expertise and leadership.
  • Serve as essential personnel during campus emergencies and closures, ensuring operational continuity and safety.
