About The Position

This position is responsible for implementing environmental health programs as designated by Supervisor and will cooperate with Public Health Service, Village Safe water and other State or Federal Programs. JOB DUTIES Responsible for collecting water samples to submit for testing and evaluation. Will assist with determining water supply and wastewater disposal needs of villages and eligible beneficiary homes. May be required to assist in servicing village water and sewer systems as requested by village officials. Responsible for implementing the Water Haul Program. Will make arrangements for transporting water to eligible persons according to Water Haul Policy. Assist with CRNA facility maintenance repairs, and maintenance/improvement projects as designated by Supervisor. Assist with maintenance of CRNA vehicles as designated by Supervisor. Submit Travel records in a timely manner. Submit a weekly report of activities and client encounters to immediate Supervisor. Coordinate and carry out the Annual Spring Clean-Up with the Villages. Ability to conduct plumbing repairs, change out pumps, motors, change HVAC filters, order plumbing parts, boiler tune-up, and able to read mechanical prints. Ability to make interior/ exterior wall repairs, mud taping, prepping walls for painting, able to read blue prints, order doors and door hardware, change light bulbs and minor electrical repairs. Attend staff meetings/department meetings as scheduled to maintain the flow of communication between staff and administration. Snow removal & lawn maintenance & grounds maintenance for CRNA and eligible beneficiaries. Maintain equipment, vehicles, generator, etc. Willingness to accept related training and workshops to enhance, improve job knowledge, performance and to keep current in the environmental health field, and to maintain certifications. – move to qualifications. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Four (4) years’ experience involving building maintenance, including: electrical, plumbing, HVAC, lighting, carpentry, water treatment, and/or facility/grounds maintenance.
  • Two (2) years of work experience with the CRNA Facilities department.
  • Valid Alaska Driver’s License, with satisfactory driving history to qualify for company insurance.
  • Current CPR/First Aide or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
  • A combination of experience, education, and training may substitute for degree requirements on a year for year basis.
  • Knowledgeable about building and ground maintenance services.
  • Strong understanding and sensitivity to Alaska Native culture and lifestyle, with demonstrated experience working effectively with Alaska Native population.
  • Sound written, analytical, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective oral and written communications skills with sensitivity to lifestyles of targeted participants.
  • Skills in operating personal computer using a variety of computer software.
  • Ability to keep accurate records and produce timely and accurate written reports.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality as required for HIPAA, other regulations and organization matters.
  • Ability to learn and apply program/agency operating policies and procedures.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks concurrently and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships, including outside contacts.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Four (4) years of broad experience as related to above skills.
  • Trade certification (i.e., carpentry, plumbing, electrical) as related to above skills.
