About The Position

YOUR TASKS We’re looking for operators who are interested in becoming part of the maintenance team and who have solid experience operating machinery. In this role you will be responsible for the troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining of various equipment and machinery for the plant. This will include the preventative maintenance and repair of all equipment that comes through the shop and to include all machines in the shops. HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT Install, maintain, and repair production equipment, including performing emergency and unscheduled repairs to minimize downtime. Troubleshoot and repair motors (110V–4160V), control devices, PLCs, and electronic components including PCB assemblies and solid-state devices. Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and mechanical repairs using hand tools to replace or adjust structural, rotating, and reciprocating parts. Operate machine tools to fabricate or modify parts, and read technical documents, work orders, and manuals to guide maintenance work. Install and maintain industrial piping systems (ferrous and non-ferrous) with various joint types, including valves, traps, and strainers. Perform basic carpentry for equipment support, including crating, blocking, and structural repairs using woodworking tools. Fabricate and repair sheet metal components such as ductwork, guards, tanks, and hoods using light to medium gauge metal. Conduct welding (gas and electric), including flat and pipe welding in multiple positions for structural and equipment repairs. Maintain and troubleshoot transformers, power distribution, and lighting systems. Follow all safety, environmental, and plant policies while supporting additional duties assigned by supervisors or management. NOTE: May not be inclusive of all work required and may be updated as needed. THE ENVIRONMENT Safety is our highest priority and safety procedures / guidelines must be always adhered to. This includes safety wear such as steel toes, hearing protection and eye protection where required. The job is within a non-climate-controlled environment where you will be exposed to temperature swings (hot/cold), forklift and pedestrian traffic, and noise The role involves various physical tasks, including lifting and operating machinery, with comprehensive training provided Must be able to stand for long periods, frequently stoop, twist, bend, walk long distances, climb stairs/ladders, and lift 50 or more pounds occasionally.

Requirements

  • 5 years of work experience at Continental Sumter in a production operator role and HS Diploma/GED or 3 years of work experience in industrial maintenance and HS Diploma/GED
  • Strong mechanical or electrical aptitude
  • Ability to use hand tools and precision measuring devices
  • Must be able to work 12 hour 2-2-3 pattern (panama) shift 6:45-7:00 (can be either days or nights) including every other weekend
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Continental is not able to offer visa support.
  • Continental is not able to pay relocation expenses for this opportunity
