About The Position

The Maintenance Technician I is responsible for repairing, replacing, correcting, or affecting equipment to ensure it operates correctly and efficiently according to production requirements. This role involves troubleshooting equipment, consulting with engineers and vendors, and performing layout work for projects. The technician must meet all safety requirements set forth by Simmons or government agencies concerning safety, environment, vehicle, handling of food products, packaging, ingredients, and related items. The position requires active participation as a team member, fostering cohesiveness, and contributing to the development and implementation of team concepts. Familiarity with Simmons' operating systems (quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN) and understanding one's role in supporting these systems, including communicating concerns and improvement ideas, is essential. The technician will also perform other duties as necessary to support business objectives.

Requirements

Must have experience or vocational training in welding, electrical or mechanical repair, and refrigeration or hydraulics.
Must have a good command of the English language, both written and spoken.

Nice To Haves

Preference for poultry or food processing organization.
High School Diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Repairs, replaces, corrects or affects equipment as needed to ensure equipment operates correctly and efficiently according to production requirements.
Consults with engineers and vendors as needed.
Accomplishes layout work for each project as needed.
Will be able to troubleshoot equipment.
Meets safety requirements in accomplishing responsibilities of this position complying with all policies or regulations set forth by Simmons or various government agencies concerning safety, environment, vehicle, handling of food products, packaging, ingredients and any related items.
Participates as a member of the Team.
Participates in the ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members.
Attends appropriate team meetings.
Fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc.
Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
Is familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position's role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
