As a Grounds Leader you will play a vital role in assisting with the maintenance and upkeep of the park’s grounds, equipment, trails, and management areas. Requirements

  • No specific education, training, or experience is required for entry to this class.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and have driver’s license.
  • Hands-on leadership, mechanical aptitude, and a strong work ethic.
  • Experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, facilities maintenance, or related field.
  • Knowledge and ability to safely operate and maintain equipment, hand tools, and power tools essential for maintenance and repair work including chainsaws, weed whips, mowers, tractors and trucks.
  • Perform heavy physical labor and to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in lawn mowing, turf maintenance, hedge trimming, snow removal, gardening, farming, horticulture, landscaping, or groundskeeping.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair park grounds, trails, picnic areas, campgrounds, landscaped spaces, playgrounds, shelters, roadways, infrastructure, water features, Oldsen Tract, North Addition, etc.
  • Operate, maintain, and oversee use of all machinery, equipment, vehicles, and tools used in the performance of duties.
  • Identify maintenance needs and assist with project planning and improvements.
  • Mowing, watering, fertilizing, pruning, tree planting and removal, snow removal, road grading, noxious weed and insect control, prescribed fire, and other natural resource management duties as required.
  • Lead, train, and supervise staff to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Schedule, assign and coordinate work assignments of employees and partners.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations, standards, procedures, and proper equipment use.
  • Coordinate with park superintendents for budgeting, purchasing supplies, and scheduling maintenance, etc.
  • Assist with facility upkeep, special events, visitor and customer services, emergency response as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
