About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Maintenance Tech-Groundskeeper to join our maintenance department, tasked with the upkeep of landscaping across our expansive 250-plus acre plant. The role involves maintaining clean and well-conditioned grounds, parking lots, and walkways. Responsibilities include fertilizing and mowing the property, trimming shrubs, removing landscape debris, and ensuring overall cleanliness and aesthetic appeal. Additionally, this position requires performing routine maintenance tasks such as manually greasing, changing oil, and cleaning various equipment. The successful candidate will also serve as an additional hand to support the maintenance crew with repairs in the rendering plant. Occasional handling and moving of heavy loads, such as transferring used cooking oil to the rendering plant and moving boxes to storage, are also required. Adherence to safety protocols, including compliance with OSHA standards and Lockout/Tagout procedures, is essential. This role is critical in supporting the plant’s operational efficiency and maintaining strict appearance and hygiene standards.

Requirements

Prior experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or general maintenance preferred.
Technical Skills: Knowledge of basic mechanical equipment for maintenance and repair tasks.
Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting to 50 pounds, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
Safety Knowledge: Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and procedures, including Lockout/Tagout.
License: Valid driver’s license required to fulfill courier duties and operate maintenance vehicles.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal communication skills to effectively interact with team members and management.
Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve issues promptly with minimal supervision.
Adaptability: Capable of managing multiple tasks and adapting to changing priorities within the workplace.
Reliability: Demonstrated reliability and punctuality, with a commitment to maintaining strict maintenance schedules.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
Must have at least 1 year of experience in industrial maintenance or a related field.
Rehire criteria is a minimum waiting period of 90 days.
Rehire Rule of no more than 3 times worked at Tyson Foods.

Responsibilities

Grounds Maintenance: Oversee the upkeep of landscaping within the 250-plus acre plant, including fertilizing, mowing, trimming shrubs, and removing landscape debris.
Facility Upkeep: Maintain cleanliness and safety of parking lots and walkways, ensuring they are free of debris and hazards.
Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks including greasing, oil changes, and general equipment cleaning.
Support Repairs: Assist the maintenance crew with mechanical and structural repairs within the rendering plant.
Heavy Lifting: Handle and move heavy loads as needed, including transferring used cooking oil and relocating storage boxes.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including OSHA standards and Lockout/Tagout processes.
Operational Support: Contribute to the overall operational efficiency of the plant by ensuring a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment.
Emergency Response: Participate in emergency response tasks and drills as required to ensure facility readiness and safety.
Courier Duties: Act as a courier, responsible for the timely and secure delivery of documents and small parcels between various locations within the plant.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of maintenance and courier activities and report any issues to management promptly.
