Job Purpose: This role exists to support and oversee a team of aircraft mechanics performing maintenance and modifications of aircraft supporting the New World Screwworm (NWS) Sterile Insect Technique (SIT) mission at the Edinburg, TX base. This includes managing all associated permanent and temporary company resources and personnel; effectively ensuring aircraft, equipment, and personnel comply with all applicable laws, standards, and policies; and ensuring key performance indicators (KPIs) are met and improvement initiatives are pursued and achieved.

Requirements

  • Must hold a valid Airframe & Powerplant license for a minimum of 5 years (preferred)
  • Strong aviation maintenance background with at least 3 years experience leading a team of aircraft mechanics
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to manage, instruct, and make airworthiness determinations
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite
  • Relocation to Edinburg, TX is required
  • Ability to: Crawl in and out of tight spaces
  • Comfortably work at elevated heights of at least 40 feet for extended periods of time
  • Lift, balance and carry 50 lbs.
  • Work in enclosed hangars and exterior weather conditions
  • Work in close proximity to other people

Nice To Haves

  • FAA Inspection Authorization (IA), or the ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Experience with Emburse, Dayforce, and Pentagon ERP systems preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform and ensure that all repairs and inspections are done in accordance with the appropriate regulations and company procedures
  • Provide adequate instruction to employees in maintenance-related issues
  • Work with Quality Control ensuring proper maintenance practices
  • Work with base logistician ensuring adequate parts for modifications and phase inspections
  • Effectively communicate with the leadership and pilots regarding aircraft issues
  • Analyze current operational processes to identify and implement improvement initiatives
  • Effectively manage assigned resources to ensure customer needs are met while ensuring all operations: comply with relevant laws, regulations, and safety standards; minimize operational costs; and meet financial goals
  • Complete daily, weekly or monthly, digital reports in an accurate manner
  • Accurately perform administrative tasks associated with payroll, timekeeping, travel, etc.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with HR in hiring, scheduling, correcting, and terminating personnel to ensure staffing meets customer needs and supports project activity
  • Address and resolve any conflicts internal to the team or with support agencies, and (as needed) mediate disputes, provide support, and implement strategies to prevent or mitigate future conflicts
  • As the supervisor and/or standards bearer, you are expected to maintain the highest level of proficiency and professional conduct. Your personal standard of excellence sets the benchmark for all maintenance operations within the company. It is your responsibility to ensure that every member of the maintenance team adheres to the same rigorous standards of skill, safety, and professionalism. By doing so, you uphold the integrity of our operations and foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
