About The Position

The Maintenance Engineer is a critical team player who understands that he/she are the protectors of the asset, working actively to minimize any exposure to the property. Success in the position requires excellent communication with both hotel guests and our internal team members throughout the hotel. The applicant must have proficiency in two or more of the following areas: HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Carpentry and Painting. This position requires an individual that works daily to ensure safe practices of themselves and other team members, following all Fairmont safety guidelines.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years previous Engineering/Maintenance experience, preferably in a luxury environment
  • General Technical proficiency – HVAC, Refrigeration, Kitchen Equipment, Plumbing, Electrical, Painting, and Carpentry
  • Excellent verbal communication and Service orientation
  • Experience in developing and leading Preventative Maintenance Programs
  • Experience in coordinating outside contractors
  • Experience in training new employees
  • Strong background of commitment to Employee Health & Safety
  • Must have proof of valid U.S. work authorization.

Responsibilities

  • Being part of a total hotel team that understands protecting the assets, safety and service to our internal and external guests are priority.
  • Ensuring that grooming standards are in line with the Fairmont luxury brand and employee handbook guidelines.
  • Ensuring that work standards are in line with Fairmont luxury brand and brand operating procedures guidelines.
  • Supports all departments in the hotel with sense of urgency and clear communication.
  • Advocates for the safety for themselves and others.
  • Identifies and immediately addresses safety issues throughout the property.
  • Maintains hotel communication process including daily log sheets, shift meetings, monthly meetings.
  • Troubleshoot/repairs of all maintenance calls for hotel guest rooms and all other departments of the hotel. Escalate appropriately.
  • Completing all training to ensure preparedness for any emergency situations in the hotel.
  • Basic computer skills to navigate hotel systems.
  • Takes active role of preventative maintenance throughout the building and guestrooms.
  • Troubleshoot/Repair of hotel electronic door lock and key systems.
  • Proficient in using building automated systems that monitor equipment throughout the hotel.
  • Walking regularly throughout the property, checking various equipment rooms, systems and logging any issues.
  • Keeping work areas, shops, and engineering offices clean and organized.
  • Administration duties include: Scheduling, purchase order system, inventory, labor analysis, assigning work, scheduling work with contractors, monthly department meetings, trainings and other admin duties that will assist the Director in the Engineering Department.
  • Assist with forecast, budget and other financial tools for the department.
  • Participate in and sit in meetings in the absence of the Director.
  • Review daily reports, arrival, VIP, Group ensuring proper preparation for shift
