About The Position

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating the general maintenance activities within the organization. This includes overseeing the maintenance of buildings, equipment, and machinery to ensure their optimal functionality. The Maintenance Supervisor leads a team of staff performing a variety of maintenance tasks such as mechanical and electrical applications, technical projects and upgrades, and technical training. This position requires strong organizational and leadership skills to estimate work hours, prepare schedules, assign tasks, and inspect completed work to ensure high-quality standards are met.

Requirements

  • High School Degree or equivalent required; additional certifications in the maintenance field (e.g. electrical, HVAC, or mechanical certifications) may be required
  • Typically requires 2-4 years of related experience in a maintenance or technical field-related role, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership capacity
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance practices and procedures.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to perform basic troubleshooting and problem-solving in mechanical, electrical, and other systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Solid understanding of maintenance procedures, quality standards and safety regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and relevant warehouse management software.
  • Ability to interact in a professional manner with employees and vendors
  • Good communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and management.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to handle challenges and adjust as needed.
  • Proficient in Excel and Word

Responsibilities

  • Drives Safety awareness, Lock-Out Tag-Out, Arc Flash, ergonomics, and PPE.
  • Supervise and manage a team of maintenance staff (24/7), ensuring all maintenance activities are carried out efficiently and effectively.
  • Work as a technical leader and decision maker
  • Coordinate and assign work orders to staff members based on their skills and expertise, balancing workloads and meeting deadlines.
  • Lead the planning and scheduling of routine and emergency maintenance tasks for buildings, equipment, and machinery.
  • Train, mentor, and develop maintenance staff to improve skills and enhance their performance in various maintenance areas.
  • Ensure staff are adequately trained in shop equipment and use of special tools.
  • Support the development of staff by identifying opportunities for professional growth and certification within the maintenance field.
  • Estimate the number of hours and resources needed to complete maintenance tasks, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Develop and maintain maintenance schedules, ensuring that preventive maintenance activities are carried out as needed.
  • Prioritize tasks based on urgency, importance, and available resources.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, including materials used, hours worked, and any issues encountered during maintenance tasks.
  • Report on maintenance activities, track performance metrics, and recommend process improvements to senior management.
  • Oversee inventory management for maintenance tools, supplies, and parts, ensuring that necessary resources are available.
  • Inspect completed maintenance work to ensure it meets company standards for quality, safety, and functionality.
  • Provide feedback and guidance to staff to ensure continuous improvement in the maintenance process.
  • Ensure that repairs and maintenance are completed in compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
