About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Plant Manager, the Maintenance Superintendent plans, implements, directs, controls, coordinates and evaluates the activities of the total maintenance function of the Anadarko plant.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, or a directly related field and seven (7) years of progressively responsible industrial or utility experience is required.
  • Additional directly related experience may be substituted for the education requirement at the rate of two (2) years of experience for one (1) year of education.
  • Must have demonstrated, directly or indirectly, successful supervision of employees in an industrial or utility environment.
  • Requires the ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Requires the ability to effectively respond orally and in writing to common inquiries from employees, regulatory agencies, or outside entities.
  • Requires the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Also requires the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry to plant situations.
  • Requires the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Also requires the ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have experience using the Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project Management, Maintenance Management and applicable PeopleSoft applications.
  • This position requires a current driver's license.
  • This job may require work in excess of a standard work week including nights, weekends and holidays, and travel away from the worksite on short notice.
  • The employee will be required to wear personal safety equipment, including a breathing apparatus.
  • The job requires quick, calm action in response to emergency situations.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
  • Vision and hearing must be normal or corrected to normal.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the planning related to the Anadarko Plant including daily workplans, bi-weekly workplans, short outage workplans, and planned outage workplans.
  • Develops the department budget for Mechanical, Electrical and Instrument maintenance groups and executes the activities specified in the department work plan.
  • Monitors expenditures as compared to budgeted amounts.
  • Develops the department capital work plan for each area of responsibility and executes the projects in the work plan.
  • Develops project documents and monitors expenditures as compared to budget.
  • Supervises the daily activities of subordinate employees by providing guidance, priorities and direction to those leading the work in the maintenance departments.
  • Ensures that all maintenance employees are properly trained in the skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform their duties in a safe and effective manner.
  • Must effectively administer and maintain accurate records of required personnel training.
  • Establishes and maintains a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for site equipment, including lubrication routes, thermal imaging, and vibration analysis in accordance with manufacturer's guidelines.
  • Standardizing those processes that can be standardized.
  • Provides the necessary personnel support to assist the Engineering Department with equipment performance testing.
  • Continuously reviews maintenance procedures, both physically and through evaluation of maintenance records, in order to evaluate performance and efficiency, standardizing those procedures that can be standardized, and to determine the need for changes in methods or procedures.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints/schematics and technical manuals and provides guidance to subordinates on technical issues.
  • Ensures personnel are available to assist with compliance of all local, state, and federal environmental standards, related to emission monitoring and effluent outflow, as well as NERC compliance.
  • Ensures that up-to-date component history and lubrication files are maintained in an accurate and accessible manner.
  • Must effectively administer and maintain accurate records of required maintenance.
  • Ensures operation of an effective departmental safety program for all maintenance employees.
  • Must effectively administer and maintain accurate records of required personnel safety training.
  • Works in conjunction with Plant Manager and Operations Superintendent to plan, coordinate and direct all scheduled outages and unit de-ratings.
  • Plans and coordinates plant outages so that maintenance work is well organized, efficient, and cost effective.
  • Recommends personnel actions and conducts employee developmental coaching and performance appraisal sessions to help develop maintenance department employees.
  • Participates and contributes to fleetwide maintenance meetings with other WFEC management.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and plant operating procedures.
