About The Position

The Shift Superintendent is a mid-level management role responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient execution of daily production operations during an assigned shift in CraftMark’s commercial bakery. The primary duty of this role is the management and oversight of shift-wide production operations through direct leadership of Supervisors and Leads, and hourly employees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Management, Engineering, Business, or related field
  • Minimum three years of supervisory or management experience in manufacturing
  • Food, beverage, or bakery experience strongly preferred
  • Equivalent education and experience may be considered
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment that may include hot, cold, dusty, noisy, or confined conditions, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Strong safety, GMP, HACCP, and SQF knowledge
  • Proven leadership in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Experience managing production KPIs and accountability
  • Effective communication, coaching, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work extended hours on the production floor
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, dusty, noisy, and confined environments

  • Working knowledge of NetSuite, RedZone and/or Power BI (or equivalents)

Responsibilities

  • Lead all shift operations with a strong emphasis on employee safety, food safety, and regulatory compliance, reinforcing expectations through visible floor leadership
  • Execute and adjust daily production plans within defined operational parameters to meet quality, service, and cost targets while monitoring key production metrics and addressing shift- level operational issues
  • Provide direct supervision and accountability for Supervisors, Leads, and hourly employees, including performance management, attendance, conduct, and employee relations, and making recommendations on hiring, discipline, and advancement that are given significant weight
  • Ensure compliance with GMPs, HACCP plans, SQF Code requirements, and customer standards, supporting audits, investigations, and corrective actions
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, labor efficiency, waste reduction, and operational consistency within a commercial bakery environment
  • Manage staffing, labor costs, and overtime to support production needs while developing frontline leaders through coaching and training
  • Collaborate with Quality, Sanitation, Maintenance, Engineering, and Supply Chain to support reliable and efficient bakery operations
  • While regularly present on the production floor, this role focuses on leadership, oversight, and decision-making rather than routine production tasks
  • Perform other management-level duties and assume additional responsibilities as required to support business needs and as directed by management
