About The Position

Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Operations, this position performs advanced (senior-level) construction, restoration, renovation, and maintenance work. Responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of the water and wastewater treatment plants for Garner State Park and execution of the park safety program as the Site Safety Officer (SSO). Responsible for regulatory compliance in all utility operations to include completion of required forms and reports as required by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD). Performs water laboratory testing procedures and general maintenance and cleaning of water and wastewater facilities. Performs all phases of maintenance and repairs to facilities, equipment, grounds, and electrical and plumbing systems utilizing equipment such as hand tools, power tools, mowers, tractors, and other machinery. Responsible for preparing reports and entering data in computer software systems. Responsible for training and leading and directing the work of assigned personnel. Assists in emergency operations. Works under minimal supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Graduation from High School or GED.
  • Four years of facility, equipment or grounds maintenance experience.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain, within 30 days of employment, a valid State driver's license.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain, within one year of employment, a class "D" Water and Wastewater license issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
  • Must possess or be able to obtain, within two years of employment, a class "C" Water and Wastewater license issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).

Nice To Haves

  • One year experience working in water system operations and maintenance.
  • One year experience working in wastewater collection and treatment systems operations and maintenance to include lift station troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair.
  • Experience working with the public.
  • Experience in team lead or supervisory role.
