About The Position

Under the direction of the Assistant Park Superintendent, this position performs complex (journey-level) building maintenance and construction work. Responsible for all Back-Up Utility Plant Operator (UPO) responsibilities such as assisting in the operation, maintenance and repairs to the Water Distribution System and Wastewater Treatment Systems. Responsible for regulatory compliance in all utility operations and completion of required reports and laboratory testing as required by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. May operate all types of equipment such as trucks, tractors, mowers and power tools. May assist with the maintenance of park facilities, grounds and equipment operations for Garner State Park. Provides quality visitor services to park visitors. In Cooperation with Utility Plant Operator and Safety Officer, assists in facility inspection and repairs related to Site Safety Program. Assists in enforcing park rules and regulations, performs resource management tasks and interprets the park's natural resources. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures.

Requirements

  • Graduation from High School or GED.
  • Three years of facility, equipment or grounds maintenance experience.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain, within 30 days of employment, a valid state driver's license.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain, within one year of employment, a class "D" Water and Wastewater license issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
  • Must possess or be able to obtain, within three years of employment, a class "C" Water and Wastewater license issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
  • Must possess or be able to obtain, within one year of employment, a Non-commercial Applicator license for the application of herbicides and pesticides issued by the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA).
