About The Position

The Maintenance Specialist I position is responsible for consistently troubleshooting, identifying, and correcting machine related problems through proper adjustments to various parts of the machine. Provide innovative solutions for facility problems.

Requirements

  • 5 years related experience
  • High Degree of mechanical ability and aptitude with proven ability to troubleshoot and perform repairs on electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Basic computer skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and effectively with little to no supervision
  • Positive work attitude and willingness to cooperate
  • Ability to work in a team environment

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems associated with all manufacturing equipment. Directly responsible for installation and repair of all equipment concerned with plant operations, services, buildings including storage and inventory of spare parts
  • Understands schematics, prints, and drawings for the installation and repair of equipment and facility
  • Examine equipment to diagnose trouble
  • Disassembles, repairs, and tests facility machinery
  • Demonstrates ability to start up plant (generator, air compressor, cooling tower, and chiller), normal plant shutdown, and emergency plant shut down
  • Replaces faulty switches, sockets and other elements of electrical systems
  • Rigging and lifting
  • Intermediate machine shop skills
  • Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures, including lock-out/tag-out
  • Perform carpentry, plumbing, painting and other facility related work as necessary depending on assigned projects
  • Assists electricians as needed
  • Communicates problems encountered through the shift with Plant Engineer/Shift Supervisor
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area
  • All maintenance mechanics are expected to be available to work in all areas of forming production
  • Perform other duties as assigned
