About The Position

The Plant Electrician position is responsible for safely providing maintenance support to a fast-paced manufacturing plant in Council Bluffs, IA. This role requires utilizing excellent electrical/electronic skills and knowledge, including PLCs, AC/DC motors and drives, and schematics, as well as mechanical skills and knowledge such as pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, power transmission, and lubrication. The electrician will work positively with maintenance and operations teams to troubleshoot and solve problems. Essential functions include the ability to work scheduled/assigned times, required overtime, and holidays, ensuring regular attendance to meet production requirements. The role also demands the ability to read, write, communicate, and comprehend written instructions in English, knowledge of electronic testing equipment and Planned Maintenance, excellent communication skills, strong organization, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks. The individual must be able to work independently and as part of a team, read and interpret electrical schematics/prints, possess advanced computer skills including spreadsheets, complete work/purchase requests, and lift up to 75 lbs.

  • A minimum of 6 months experience in an industrial maintenance environment and/or equivalent military experience.

  • PLC certification preferred and/or journeyman license.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting Lean Initiatives such as Set-Up Reductions and TPM.
  • Driving Productivity Improvements (Cycle Time Reduction) in Assigned Departments by Optimizing Programming, Tooling, and Fixturing.
  • Developing and loading part programs into controller using keyboard, computer, or IE Manufacturing.
  • Programming a variety of machines and controls such as Fanuc, Siemens, Allen Bradley, GE.
  • Making machine setups.
  • Assisting with New Equipment Opportunities and Installations.
  • Installing, maintaining, and operating all plant electrical (e.g., switch gear, high/low voltage, drives, parts, etc.).
  • Setting-up all electronic equipment for scheduled production runs.
  • Troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all electronic equipment (e.g., wiring, scales, metal detectors, etc.).
  • Troubleshooting and programming PLC’s including wiring.
  • Conducting daily/weekly PM’s.
  • Maintaining plant lighting.
  • Troubleshooting and programming CIP.
  • Fabricating custom electronic parts.
  • Implementing safety devices on production lines.
  • Completing required reports (e.g., PM, Work Orders, Centerline, etc.).
