About The Position

At Vertical Mechanical Group (VMG), we don't just build systems; we protect the life cycle of the most complex mechanical environments. We are looking for a high-performing professional to bridge the gap between our Large-Scale Construction projects and our Top-Tier Service Operations. As a Maintenance Solutions Consultant, you aren't just selling a contract; you are ensuring that the multimillion-dollar investments our construction team installs are preserved through precision engineering and proactive care. If you are a hunter who values technical accuracy and seamless operational handoffs, VMG is your next home. The Maintenance Solutions Consultant is responsible for driving the growth of our preventative maintenance portfolio. This dual-focus role involves new business development (cold-calling and new in-house leads) and strategic construction pull-through, where you will engage clients during the construction phase to transition them into long-term service agreements.

Requirements

  • 3–5 Years B2B Sales Experience: Proven track record in mechanical, industrial, or construction-adjacent services.
  • Technical Aptitude: Ability to navigate mechanical rooms and identify commercial HVAC/Plumbing equipment.
  • Education: High school diploma required; Technical background or Business degree preferred.
  • Mobility: Valid driver's license and clean record for frequent travel to job sites and prospect locations.
  • Proactive Business Prospecting: Comfortable with cold calling and persistent follow-up.
  • Financial Acumen: Ability to discuss margins, labor rates, and operational efficiency with savvy facility owners.
  • Tech Savvy: Proficient in Microsoft 365 and mobile-based field software.
  • Negotiator: Strong ability to handle technical objections and close multi-year service agreements.
  • Customer Advocate: Serve as the customer's advocate, ensuring long-term operational continuity and mechanical reliability for our clients' high-value investments.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Construction Pull-Through: Collaborate with the Construction Department to identify upcoming project completions. Initiate engagement with clients prior to project handoff to demonstrate the value of a VMG partnership post-warranty.
  • New Market Development: Identify and qualify "cold" prospects that match VMG's ideal profile - focusing on facilities with high-tonnage HVAC, VRF, and complex plumbing needs.
  • Technical Site Surveys: Perform on-site equipment audits to identify system types, conditions, and maintenance requirements.
  • Full-Cycle Sales Management: From initial cold call or construction intro to final signature, manage the proposal pipeline to meet or exceed quarterly growth goals.
  • Consultative Presentations: Deliver data-driven presentations that showcase the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and the ROI of preventative maintenance.
  • CRM Precision: Utilize our CRM to track all activity, upload site photos, and maintain an accurate proposal pipeline.
  • Internal Synergy: Maintain tight communication with Service Operations and Construction leaders to ensure promised service levels are achievable and profitable.

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary with an aggressive, uncapped commission structure.
  • Full benefits package (Health, Retirement, PTO).
