The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Maintenance Repair Worker 3 (Structural Shop), Facilities Management [R0149750] ROLE of the POSITION The Maintenance Repair Worker 3 performs semi-skilled carpentry and welding work to construct, maintain, repair, and modify facilities, fixtures, furniture and woodwork; review plans and specifications; lay out projects in accordance with code requirements and purchase appropriate materials. Working knowledge of: building and construction codes; safety practices; budget preparation; materials, tools and equipment used to maintain buildings; project management; all assigned craft trades, including but not limited to, carpentry, roofing, welding, automatic door technician, glazier; and the methods and techniques used in maintenance, construction, retrofitting, and fabrication. Other job duties for a Maintenance Repair Worker 3 include: Ability to analyze problems and offer alternative solutions. Ability to count accurately and perform mathematical calculations. Ability to operate common office equipment and machinery including, but not limited to: computer, printer, scanner, photocopier, facsimile machine on a continuous basis during a 10-hour work shift. Ability to speak, read and write English. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing. Specific vision abilities required include close, distant and peripheral vision; identify and distinguish colors; and depth perception. Continuous finger dexterity; hands to finger. Ability to perform duties in a work environment that is usually moderate to loud noise levels. Ability to climb & descend stairs, and work from a ladder frequently. Ability to work alternate shifts if required. Ability to work in extreme conditions (heat, cold, loud, dusty, stressful). Ability to work in confined spaces. Ability to work from ladders, scaffolding and a man lift. Occasional lifting at 35 pounds and minimal lifting at 75 pounds or >. Occasional carrying at 35 pounds and minimal carrying at 75 pounds or >. Frequent half-squatting, stooping, bending, reaching and/or twisting. Continuous standing, walking, and/or sitting during a 10- hour work shift. Valid Nevada class C driver's license is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment. The schedule is M-Thursday 5:00 am to 3:30 pm, subject to change depending on University and Department needs.
