About The Position

The MRO Coordinator is responsible for all indirect materials, supplies, and spare part needs to keep the facilities, equipment, and processes running effectively in an automotive manufacturing environment. It is the behind the scenes inventory including everything from lubricants, safety gear, and cleaning supplies to spare machine parts and tools, crucial for preventing downtime and improving efficiency.

Requirements

  • Min High School Diploma, higher education preferred.
  • 2–5 years of experience as an MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations) Buyer or Purchasing Specialist in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of MRO spare parts such as hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical components, and mechanical drive systems used in production equipment.
  • Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) experience preferred.
  • Proficient and skilled in Microsoft Office applications, building reports, and conditional formatting.
  • Able to withstand moderate physical activity (standing, walking, bending, stooping over, reaching, etc.).
  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills with internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Attention to detail and high level of organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships across department.
  • Proactive and self-motivated with a sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Analytical thinking with the ability to interpret data and make informed purchasing decision.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a focus on cost efficiency and process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Support Purchasing in evaluating, selecting, and managing suppliers based on performance, capabilities, pricing, and compliance.
  • Source new vendors for unpurchased or specialized parts.
  • Monitor supplier performance and enforce adherence to quality standards, contractual agreements, and company policies.
  • Generate and track purchase requisitions (PRs) status till they become purchase orders (POs).
  • Track purchase orders (POs) for accuracy and timely delivery.
  • Follow up on past-due receipts and resolve discrepancies between POs and deliveries.
  • Validate purchase requisitions for completeness and correctness.
  • Coordinate incoming deliveries with receiving departments to ensure smooth processing.
  • Order spare parts through the purchasing department to support maintenance and tool room operations.
  • Sending repairs to external tool shops, tracking progress, and organizing transportation.
  • Collaborate with maintenance to develop spare parts lists for new and existing equipment.
  • Implement and maintain efficient parts storage and organization practices.
  • Monitor procurement and inventory activities to reduce risks and support operational efficiency.
  • Update CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) records to reflect MRO purchases and inventory status.
  • Track inventory levels for both maintenance and the tool room to ensure availability and avoid stock outs.
  • Track monthly spending for both maintenance and the tool room and report variances or concerns.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Generate procurement and inventory reports.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and regulations while maintaining clear communication and accurate records.
