Work Description: The Maintenance & Reliability Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing machine shop and fabrication equipment to ensure reliable and efficient production operations. This role supports the machine shop by diagnosing equipment issues, performing repairs, and minimizing downtime on critical manufacturing equipment such as mills, lathes, and fabrication machinery. In addition to equipment repair, this position plays a key role in developing and implementing a structured preventive maintenance program to improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and extend machine life across the facility.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or machine shop environment
  • Demonstrated experience repairing machine shop equipment such as mills, lathes, and fabrication equipment
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills
  • Experience with electrical systems, motors, and controls preferred
  • Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, and basic electrical schematics
  • Basic welding and fabrication skills preferred
  • Ability to work independently and respond quickly to equipment issues
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on repair ability
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize maintenance tasks in a production environment
  • Attention to detail and strong documentation habits
  • Ability to communicate effectively with maintenance, production, and management teams
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, and kneel while performing maintenance tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with electrical systems, motors, and controls preferred
  • Basic welding and fabrication skills preferred

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain machine shop equipment including CNC and manual mills, lathes, and fabrication equipment
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic system issues
  • Perform emergency repairs to restore production equipment and minimize downtime
  • Replace worn or failed components such as bearings, motors, belts, sensors, drive components, and mechanical assemblies
  • Work closely with machinists and production personnel to identify and resolve equipment issues quickly
  • Coordinate with external service providers or equipment manufacturers when specialized repairs are required
  • Assist in establishing and implementing a structured preventive maintenance program for all production equipment
  • Develop maintenance schedules for mills, lathes, fabrication equipment, compressors, and facility systems
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks including inspections, lubrication, adjustments, and part replacements
  • Maintain maintenance logs and equipment service history
  • Identify opportunities to improve machine reliability and reduce breakdowns
  • Assist with installation, setup, and commissioning of new equipment
  • Support machine upgrades and equipment modifications
  • Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions
  • Recommend improvements to improve machine uptime and reliability
  • Assist with general facility maintenance when needed including shop infrastructure and utilities
  • Support maintenance of compressed air systems, power distribution, and shop equipment
  • Follow all safety procedures including lockout/tagout and machine safety protocols
  • Maintain a clean and organized maintenance workspace
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with company safety and regulatory requirements
