About The Position

The maintenance purchaser/planner will be responsible for sourcing equipment, goods, and services and managing vendors. They will also be responsible for planning maintenance work on the assets throughout the facility. The successful candidate will be able to perform strategic procurement activities across multiple categories of spend and search for the best supplier programs. This position is responsible for developing profitable purchasing strategies, assessing supplier profiles, analyzing offers, preparing and implementing negotiation tactics, and partnering with the production control department to obtain machine availability for maintenance functions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop lean purchasing strategies and SOPs.
  • Training associates in purchasing SOPs.
  • Seek and partner with reliable suppliers.
  • Determine quantity and timing of deliveries.
  • Prepare and implement effective negotiation tactics.
  • Manage relationships with key suppliers to maintain quality of goods, timely delivery, compliance to terms of contracts, and resolution of performance issues.
  • Review supplies to ensure quality.
  • Monitor stock inventory levels.
  • Drive, track, and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses, improve reliability, and improve effectiveness.
  • Keep updated records.
  • Attend events, fairs, and exhibitions to keep abreast of the market’s trends.
  • Support the purchasing team.
  • Support the maintenance team.
  • Monitor and adjust the spare parts inventory to support the reliability of the assets.
  • Perform cycle counts.
  • Develop and audit the factory's ODR (Operator Driven Reliability) boards.
  • Create, optimize, and audit PMs.
  • Determine estimated labor hours, tools, and resources required to complete work orders.
  • Manage outside contractor support.
  • Analyze data from CMMS for asset decision-making.
  • Analyze contracts for services.
  • Liaison between maintenance and production control
