About The Position

The Maintenance Planner role is an essential part of the site Maintenance organization. The primary purpose of the planner is to maximize the maintenance work force productivity and work quality through effective planning and coordination of manpower, parts, materials and equipment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 4 years of work experience in the skilled trades (i.e. – machinery, millwright, metal trades, etc.)
  • At least 1 year of experience in a chemical manufacturing facility.
  • Strong mechanical/electrical aptitude.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and instrumented equipment and their maintenance, mechanical integrity and inspection processes. Familiarity with the predictive and preventive maintenance programs, work processes and best practices. Demonstrated technical competencies of troubleshooting, root cause failure analysis, work planning and estimating.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively both verbally and in written form with shop floor personnel, vendors, OEM suppliers, and management personnel. Demonstrated ability of making business decisions based upon situation analysis and resources available
  • Ability to read and interpret vendor manuals and drawings. Able to perform some level of cost analysis and work within a structured budget.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and teamwork. Highly motivated and self-directed: able to work independently towards specific goals and objectives in an organized, orderly manner.
  • Computer skills required:
  • Use of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word
  • SAP PM experience is strongly preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Previous supervisory experience of Maintenance craftsmen is a strong plus

Responsibilities

  • Provide effective job plans for work orders and other maintenance work requests, which includes the following the activities:
  • On a daily basis, utilize SAP PM to review new work orders for clarity and priority.
  • Lead efforts to develop plans/schedules for maintenance work to be performed during planned outages. Conduct job walk-downs as part of developing job plans to an appropriate level of detail, which may include requirements for manpower, skill requirements, parts, special tools, equipment, timing and coordination with the owning department.
  • Identify any job-related EHS concerns and mitigation options. Identify permitting requirements, such as Lock Out/Tag Out, Hot Work, Line Break and Confined Space Entry.
  • Validate that the parts, materials and tools needed to carry out the job plan are available. If not, create purchase requisitions for parts and services as needed based on planned work.
  • For scheduled work, compile information into job packages that clearly communicate the critical steps in the plan. Print and prepare job packages in conjunction with the daily and weekly work schedule.
  • Support efforts to solicit quotes for work from contractor resources as appropriate. Create purchase requisitions in SAP and collaborate with Technical Procurement to ensure purchase orders are issued to meet job schedules.
  • Solicit feedback from maintenance mechanics regarding the effectiveness of created job plans. Utilize this feedback to continuously improve job plans.
  • Develop, maintain and apply the use of standard job plans wherever possible to improve planning efficiency.
  • Close completed work orders in SAP.
  • Ensure that documents associated with equipment inspections, preventive maintenance activities, and other essential records are properly filed and retrievable upon request
  • Input masterdata in Fiori as needed for new vendor setup in Ariba.
  • Support procurement of recurring site supplies and services by creation of framework purchase orders in Ariba.
  • Act as the point of contact for key vendors/suppliers including janitorial services, pest control services, propane and bottled water.
  • Serve as designated backup for Maintenance Supervisor, in addition to taking off hours and weekend maintenance call responsibilities.
  • Perform other maintenance related tasks and special assignments as requested by the Maintenance Superintendent.
  • Serve as a contact and liaison person between maintenance, operations and other supported departments.
