About The Position

The Maintenance Planner will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective planning and scheduling of maintenance activities in our manufacturing facility. This includes coordinating with various teams to prioritize tasks, managing spare parts inventory, and optimizing maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and maximize operational efficiency. A primary goal will be to increase the amount of planned maintenance work and in turn reduce breakdowns/reactive maintenance.

Requirements

  • 5 or more years’ experience as a multi-craft manufacturing maintenance technician
  • Experience in maintenance planning in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient computer skills and experience in using CMMS software for maintenance planning and scheduling.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance best practices, including preventive and predictive maintenance techniques.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Safety must be the top priority for all maintenance job activities.
  • Assist the Maintenance Manager/Operations Leadership in establishing a culture of planned maintenance versus reactive maintenance to improve operational efficiency, reduce maintenance costs, and extend the life of plant assets.
  • Lead planned maintenance scheduling meeting with operations and maintenance management to plan and schedule maintenance based on criticality, resource availability, and production schedules.
  • Track planned maintenance schedule compliance to understand effectiveness and opportunities for improvement.
  • Utilize computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) as the maintenance system of accounting to track work orders, record maintenance activities, and generate reports.
  • Work with the maintenance team to ensure all maintenance work is accurately captured in the CMMS.
  • Utilize the CMMS to generate maintenance key performance metrics such as PM completion %, MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures), and % planned versus reactive maintenance.
  • Lead PMO (PM Optimization process) to continually improve the effectiveness of preventative maintenance procedures and processes and ensure we are achieving the expected results when compared to the cost of performing the PM tasks.
  • Implement PdM (Predictive Maintenance) procedures to improve reliability and asset life.
  • Evaluate CMMS data and equipment performance data to identify areas for improvement and recommend necessary upgrades or modifications.
  • Establish and utilize maintenance job kitting to ensure all parts, procedures, and technical information is included in the planned job.
  • Establish inventory min/max levels and job kitting.
  • Work with the maintenance team to maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Ordering parts as necessary.
  • Complete inventory cycle counts.
  • Review completed planned maintenance jobs for opportunities for improvement.
  • Teach and utilize (RCA) root cause analysis to address major breakdowns that have occurred.
  • Teach and utilize (FMEA) failure mode and effects analysis to address potential problems before they occur.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to maintenance technicians as needed.
  • Keep abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies in maintenance planning.
  • Other duties as assigned.
