About The Position

The Maintenance Planner Technician is responsible for planning, coordinating, and optimizing maintenance activities to ensure equipment reliability and efficient labor utilization. This role reports directly to the Maintenance Manager and serves as a career path position for team members seeking growth into maintenance management. The position plays a critical role in maintaining accurate SAP PM data, developing preventative maintenance best practices, and supporting maintenance planning through data analysis and cross-functional collaboration.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required. Additional education or specialized training in maintenance is preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of in-house mechanical experience.
  • Completion of Tyson maintenance training programs with formal mechanical skills training.
  • Knowledge of parts room procedures and policies.
  • Must be proficient, or able to become proficient within 90 days, in: SAP Maintenance (PM) Microsoft Office Suite
  • 1 to 5 trips per year as needed.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in maintenance planning and scheduling is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain SAP PM system data integrity and generate maintenance-related reports.
  • Analyze maintenance data to support effective planning and scheduling decisions.
  • Develop, maintain, and promote enterprise-wide preventative maintenance best practices.
  • Continuously review preventative maintenance work orders in relation to equipment history and performance.
  • Recommend modifications to improve equipment reliability and optimize maintenance labor utilization.
  • Apply Universal Maintenance Standards to establish reasonable time expectations for maintenance tasks.
  • Identify, label, and document new equipment in accordance with Tyson standards.
  • Utilize Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to provide data-driven feedback to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Plan maintenance work based on required skill level and safety training.
  • Review SAP maintenance data from other Tyson facilities with similar equipment and provide recommendations.
  • Manage maintenance shift scheduling, work order backlog, and downtime planning, ensuring parts availability.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Operations Support, local management, corporate departments, and external partners on special projects and CIR development content.
  • Coordinate with Operations Support to develop, track, and report relevant maintenance metrics to management.
