About The Position

Reporting to the Corporate Maintenance Planning & Systems Manager, the role of the Maintenance Planner is to manage the planning activities of the maintenance department at our Waterloo, IN and Rock Island, IL facilities. You will be responsible for planning corrective and preventive work orders related to the daily activities of maintenance employees on all shifts. You will be responsible for managing projects and services with both internal resources and external vendors. In your role, your main responsibilities will be:

Requirements

  • Experience in manufacturing maintenance planning
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record
  • Must be able to operate a forklift, man lift and other industrial equipment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, D365 and Microsoft AX (highly preferred)
  • Purchasing and vendor management
  • High level knowledge of electrical and mechanical parts
  • Excellent planning and execution skills
  • Be an excellent communicator
  • Ability to work under pressure and with others for a common goal

Responsibilities

  • Create maintenance schedules and generate work orders
  • Ensure work orders meet defined readiness criteria before scheduling
  • Ensure and optimize the monitoring of an up-to-date preventive and corrective maintenance program
  • Build and protect the weekly maintenance schedule based on capacity
  • Plan and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance tasks to be performed on each shift
  • Produce and communicate reports on the department's performance indicators
  • Coordinate with production and planning for maintenance tasks and operational needs
  • Define the scope of projects, solicit quotes and present them for approval
  • Create and track department work orders in the ERP system
  • Review and prioritize all incoming work requests and view work on site for clarification of work to be performed
  • Contact vendors for technical documentation, pricing and availability
  • Research equipment manuals and vendor specifications for new parts and new generations of parts to ensure they are available when needed
  • Estimate costs of labor and parts for industrial equipment maintenance
  • Adjust schedules for unexpected changes and breakdowns
  • Follow up on inspections related to building equipment and the factory in general
  • Manage service contracts and track performance and cost
  • Manage outside vendors through planning, costs and performance
  • Serve as liaison between maintenance and operations
  • Prepare purchase requisitions and purchase orders.
  • Own and maintain a prioritized, ready-to-work maintenance backlog
  • Communicate the preparation of the parts to the parts room clerk
  • Fill in when needed to receive parts and equipment, including unloading material using a forklift as needed.
  • Perform cycle counts and inventory validations
  • Ensure the maintenance staff and operations has all the necessary parts, tools and technical information to perform the job
  • May be required to work outside normal business hours in order to handle emergencies or ensure that maintenance work does not interfere with regular operations
  • Be a technical resource for the operations and maintenance teams
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned
