About The Position

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for optimizing maintenance efficiency, reliability, and uptime across all foundry and machining operations. This position ensures that all maintenance activities are properly planned, scheduled, resourced, and documented within the company's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). The planner works cross-functionally with Maintenance, Production, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to minimize downtime, improve wrench time, and drive continuous improvement in maintenance performance, safety, and cost control.

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline preferred, equivalent experience considered.
  • 5+ years of maintenance experience in heavy manufacturing, foundry, or machining operations; 2+ years in a planning or CMMS role preferred.
  • Proficiency with CMMS platforms (Microsoft Dynamics 365, Maximo, eMaint, Maintenance Pro, or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred certifications: CMRP, OSHA 30-hour, or Maintenance Safety Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize preventive maintenance schedules and integrate predictive technologies (vibration analysis, thermography, oil sampling) to reduce downtime.
  • Align PMs with production plans to maximize equipment availability and track compliance through CMMS.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase planned vs. unplanned maintenance performance.
  • Convert maintenance requests into detailed, safe, and executable work orders with defined labor, tools, and materials.
  • Coordinate with production and maintenance teams to schedule work efficiently and issue weekly task priorities.
  • Prepare complete job kits and ensure timely, accurate work order closeout and reporting.
  • Maintain accurate equipment BOMs and critical spare listings within the CMMS.
  • Partner with storeroom and purchasing to manage stock levels, reorder points, and long-lead or critical spares.
  • Support component standardization, vendor reduction, and elimination of obsolete or underused inventory.
  • Serve as CMMS data steward, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and system integrity.
  • Track and report KPIs such as PM compliance, schedule adherence, MTBF, and MTTR through dashboards and analytics.
  • Perform root cause analyses and maintain documentation supporting ISO 9001 and 45001 compliance.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance, Production, Engineering, and Safety to plan, prioritize, and execute maintenance work.
  • Support new equipment installations, capital projects, and commissioning documentation.
  • Promote continuous improvement, 5S, and standard work practices across maintenance operations.
