About The Position

The Maintenance Operator Entry position is designed to support the safe and efficient operation of BWC Terminals (The Company’s) equipment and facilities while gaining hands-on experience in maintenance and repair practices. This role assists with routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and basic troubleshooting under the guidance of experienced maintenance staff. The position also involves maintaining accurate records, managing inventory, and supporting compliance with safety and environmental standards. As an entry-level role, it provides foundational training and exposure to mechanical and electrical systems, preparing the employee for future advancement within the maintenance team.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge and skills in using hand/power tools, mechanics, electrical, and welding techniques to service and repair equipment
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot problems and repairs
  • Customer service focus
  • Ability to have or obtain a TWIC card
  • Ability to wear safety equipment, including respirator, safety shoes, goggles, gloves, and similar equipment
  • Ability to become certified and operate a motor vehicle, forklift, and similar equipment
  • Mechanically inclined and have the ability and skills in disassembling, repairing, and assembling equipment
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, parts lists, and drawings
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with customers and co-workers; ability to write reports/documentation
  • Ability to change duties throughout the day and to work with a variety of individuals
  • Ability to interact with others in a professional and appropriate demeanor, work effectively with a diverse group of individuals, and maintain effective working relationships with staff and customers
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently with general direction from supervisor
  • Capable of reporting to work on time, prepared to perform duties of the position, and willing to perform duties as workload necessitates
  • Ability to carry out the duties of this position while helping the company to meet its mission and while adhering to policies, procedures, and regulations, especially safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Learn to operate and maintain mechanical and electrical systems safely and efficiently.
  • Work with maintenance staff to perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Participate in scheduled preventive maintenance activities to ensure the longevity and efficiency of equipment.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, tool usage along with housekeeping.
  • Ensure inventory of necessary parts is maintained.
  • Order and stock spare parts, maintenance supplies, and similar items.
  • Read and interpret documents and manuals related to the facility’s structures and equipment.
  • Inspect equipment on a regular schedule to ensure equipment is functioning properly and safely per company and federal/state safety requirements.
  • Research and make recommendations for equipment/parts purchases.
  • Maintain necessary records and paperwork.
  • Interact and communicate with clients and co-workers in a respectful and professional manner and respond to and give feedback respectfully and positively.
  • Support team efforts, actively work to generate respect and enthusiasm, cooperate with others, and actively learn from other team members.
  • Reports to work on time, prepared to perform the duties of the position, and willing to perform the duties as workload necessitates.
  • Employees shall comply with applicable regulatory and company health, safety, environmental, and security requirements.
  • Employees are expected to complete required training promptly; perform duties in a safe and environmentally sound manner; and immediately report injuries/illnesses, environmental spills/releases, and any unsafe acts or conditions to supervision in support of continual improvement of the company's health, safety, environmental, and security performance.
