With two production facilities in Tasmania and located in both Westbury and Cambridge, Skretting is feed manufacturer that primarily supports the aquaculture industry and forms part of a larger global family under the Nutreco group of companies. Role Overview Reporting to the Maintenance Manager (North), the Maintenance Officer is key to ensuring that optimal and reliable plant performance is achieved through the application of preventative, reactive and strategic maintenance-based activities, within a modern and automated feed production facility. The role executes across a broad range of maintenance activities & processes, following established policies and procedures that align with the production & operational targets for each assigned area. This role will ideally be suited to a pro-active individual possessing a safety first, and solutions-based works methodology, with the ability to work both independently and as a key member of a small team to ensure that both planned and unplanned repairs and maintenance related activities are managed effectively and efficiently. An ongoing, permanent position, this role is an alternating shiftwork role, covering 2 shifts between the hours of 6am to 2pm and 2pm to 10pm, with the later shift providing overnight on-call coverage. These hours may be open to negotiation for the right applicant. Days of coverage may vary subject to production requirement but are typically Monday to Friday, with all additional coverage requirements treated as overtime. An annual remuneration rate of $95,000 plus afternoon shift loading and on-call allowance is available for the right applicant to this role, in addition to which there is a 6% (of base rate) performance-based bonus payment available annually.

  • Capacity to participate in an afterhours rotating on-call roster
  • Successful completion of a criminal history/police check and pre-employment medical assessment as organised by Skretting.
  • Trade certification in a mechanical fitting or related trade, ideally with a minimum of 3-5 years experience within a fast-paced industrial environment.
  • Possess a strong understanding of and firm commitment to safety and environmental practices within industry.
  • Factory/production background possessing a high level of troubleshooting / fault-finding capability.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High degree of independence, maturity and initiative.
  • Demonstratable, sound decision-making, prioritisation of works, and time management skills.
  • Willingness to provide Criminal History (Police) Check and undergo a pre-employment medical.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a tradesperson in plant and equipment maintenance.
  • Experience in a Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) environment or similar automated environment.
  • Experience maintaining steam, or gas appliances
  • Forklift / EWP License
  • Restricted Electrical License
  • Welding / fabricating experience.
  • Driver’s License
  • Experience in automation, electrical and instrumentation-based control systems, and plant (desirable).
  • Experience with pumping, conveyance, pneumatic, weigh scale and steam and gas appliances (desirable).
  • Pneumatics and hydraulics
  • Industrial White Card.
  • Confined Space.
  • High-Risk Works certification.
  • Welding experience with MIG/TIG/Stick technologies.
  • Dogging Ticket.
  • Forklift / EWP Licence.
  • Restricted Electrical Licence (disconnect/reconnect).
  • Roller Bearing and condition monitoring.

Responsibilities

  • Delivering safe, reliable, repeatable, and efficient routine preventative and reactive maintenance-based activities supporting the production team.
  • Being a champion for and an exponent of best practice safe work practices in your approach to works performance and delivery.
  • Pro-active participation in maintenance related activities following a scheduled program within our internal asset management and maintenance planning system.
  • Active participation in the development and application of Job Safety Assessments and works permitting supporting business need.
  • Identifying, maintaining, and recording the use of critical machine and process related parts.
  • Assisting in the development of new and improved preventative maintenance programs and strategies.
  • Communicating with business leaders, production operators, and external resourcing to monitor performance of equipment and plant.
  • Develop & maintain collaborative working relationships across business and supporting external contractors.
  • Work to achieve pre-determined and measurable KPI’s relative to both self and department.
  • Performance of small to medium fabrication/construction works supporting ongoing site development.
  • Active participation in a rotating shift and call out roster.
