About The Position

Provide leadership, coaching, recruiting and career development for maintenance of line team members. Execute design, development, and related technical tasks required to maintain the product line. Lead sustaining engineering activities over specific products related to electrical switch designs and breaker enclosures. Evaluate quality metrics related to product designs and develop plans to mitigate potential product issues. Lead communication and meetings with production, operations, and quality to review production issues related to product design. Initiate and prepare specifications for products, equipment, and processes while maintaining awareness of and control of costs according to project scope. Maintain design engineering cost budget for each project and track project costs (material, services, and labor) to plan. Assume responsibility for appropriate testing and evaluation of products, parts, equipment, tools, and systems along with necessary corrective follow-up. Prepare and write articles for technical publications and prepare patent disclosures for identified IP in product designs. Participate as a key member on facility and product engineering teams. Obtain Six Sigma Greenbelt and mentor other Six Sigma candidates. Mentor less experienced engineers and designers in the US, India, and Mexico

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Technical Science degree from accredited program
  • Minimum 5 year's experience in product design or sustainability
  • Experience with CAD systems
  • Experience with drawing vault software (Enovia)
  • Six Sigma Greenbelt
  • 2 years experience in supervision of people role
  • Electro-mechanical design
  • Electrical design
  • Mechanical design
  • Design and testing to IEE, UL, CSA, or IEC standards
  • Design verification through analysis and test
  • The ability to clearly and effectively communicate technical information, whether written or verbal to other functional departments throughout the organization and to upper management.
  • Demonstrate the ability to analyze product failure issues sufficiently to drive them to root cause via various problem solving methods.
  • Manage engineering of multiple projects simultaneously.
  • The ability to create and present group presentations.
