About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanical Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of mechanical systems and equipment within the facility. This role provides hands-on leadership and technical guidance to the maintenance team, focusing on preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities. In addition, this role will work closely with Operations and Engineering to understand daily maintenance needs, coordinate mechanical repairs, and support planned shutdowns. The Maintenance Mechanical Supervisor has 11 direct reports and will report directly to the Maintenance Manager.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D
  • 5+ years of supervision or leadership experience preferably in a chemical manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of Ammonia, Nitric Acid, and AnSol production.
  • Knowledge of chemical manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Understanding of compressor control systems.
  • Ability to read and understand P&IDs, schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams and technical manuals.
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant maintenance metrics (KPI's).
  • Working knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) and a good understanding of general process control.
  • Knowledge of PSM Mechanical Integrity, piping, and pressure vessel codes and jurisdictional requirements.
  • Excellent supervision, leadership and mentoring skills.
  • This position requires scheduling flexibility and responsiveness.
  • Must have the ability to handle confidential matters in a tactful and professional manner.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required.
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Asset Management Systems (EAM) or alternative CMMS.
  • Possesses strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Possesses complex problem solving, critical thinking, strong mathematics skills, systems evaluation, and operation analysis.
  • Competent computer knowledge – CMMS, Excel, Word, analysis software, etc.
  • Must possess the ability and willingness to participate in emergency response, including HAZMAT, Confined Space Rescue, First Aid and Incipient Fire Brigade.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related field preferred.
  • Project & budget management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Determine schedules, sequences, and assignments for work activities, based on work priority, quantity of equipment, and skill of personnel.
  • Monitor employees' work levels and review work performance.
  • Monitor tool and part inventories and the condition and maintenance of shops to ensure adequate working conditions.
  • Investigate accidents or injuries and prepare reports of findings.
  • Recommend/initiate personnel actions, such as hires, promotions, transfers, discharges, or disciplinary measures.
  • Compile operational or personnel records, such as time and production records, inventory data, repair or maintenance statistics, or test results.
  • Develop, implement, or evaluate maintenance policies and procedures.
  • Counsel employees about work-related issues and assist employees to correct job-skill deficiencies.
  • Examine objects, systems, or facilities and analyze information to determine needed installations, services, or repairs.
  • Conduct or arrange for worker training in safety, repair, or maintenance techniques, operational procedures, or equipment use.
  • Other duties as assigned.
