Basic Job Functions:The Maintenance Mechanical Day Support will support the Mechanical Supervisor and/or Maintenance Leader of a given area in their responsibilities with an emphasis on projects that will produce bottom line results.  This position will be expected to lead, motivate, develop, and assist a team, manage large projects from start to completion; communicate well with both production and maintenance, show concern for our customers’ needs, and wisely manage contractors and costs.  This position will be expected to work nights, weekends, holidays, and cover shift as needed. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Requirements

  • 5 years Maintenance experience
  • Basic mechanical, and engineering knowledge for assisting with servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing moving parts and equipment.
  • Willingness and confidence to have immediate and direct conversations on critical alignment issues such as teamwork, building relationships, initiating and supporting change, and production process issues that arise. This includes the willingness to face adversity and conflict head on.
  • Working as part of a coordinated effort with others to achieve a common goal.
  • Effective with planning, managing time and making adjustments relative to each department’s activity in order to maintain efficiency in the process flow.
  • Identifying problems and analyzing or reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options to choose the most appropriate solution(s).
  • Displays responsibility and reliability with work habits and has ability to hold others accountable for desired results.
  • Proactively seeking out work that needs to be done and being willing to take on responsibilities and challenges.
  • The ability to give full attention to what others are saying and communicating information so that others will understand.
