The Maintenance Mechanic ensures the operation of machinery by repairing and completing preventive Greif E-maintenance requirements on injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment.

Requirements

  • High School diploma (or equivalent)
  • 5 years of experience
  • Extensive experience (5 years) repairing injection molding presses and auxiliary equipment.
  • Ability to work independently with very solid knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic applications.
  • Good troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose problems and make decisions as to the appropriate corrective action.
  • Mechanical ability, as well as strong understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical applications and blueprints.
  • Ability to read and interpret prints and diagrams-hydraulic and electrical.
  • A team player and is able to interact with various department personnel to ensure work is completed thoroughly and efficiently.
  • Safety is a Must.

Responsibilities

  • Controls downtime by effectively troubleshooting and diagnosing problems quickly and accurately.
  • Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
  • Works with tool crib attendant to maintain equipment, part, and supplies inventories by checking inventory levels; anticipating needs; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
  • Documents maintenance and repair activities, including recording parts used and work performed.
  • May provide recommendations for future repairs or adjustments.
  • Proactively inspects and maintains tools and equipment used in the workshop, ensuring they're in good working condition.
  • Repair chillers, thermolators, resin driers, loader systems, grinders and tower fans, understand their operations.
  • Assists with or participates in projects involving the installation, modification, or relocation of machinery and equipment.
  • Repair downstream automation and have some PLC experience.
  • Proactive in keeping a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and safety regulations.
  • Follows guidance from more senior level mechanics.
  • May assist more junior level mechanics with routine questions.
  • Follows the operations and company safety procedures and practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
