About The Position

Madden Industrial Craftsmen is looking for a skilled and experienced Maintenance Mechanic for their industrial client in Salem, Oregon. This is a direct hire position. The role involves performing highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and facility equipment, including emergency and scheduled repairs, preventive maintenance, and various mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic tasks. The mechanic will also perform simple machinist duties, plumbing, and carpentry functions, using a variety of tools and equipment.

Requirements

  • High school degree or GED, or equivalent experience
  • Prior experience working in a manufacturing production environment
  • Must be willing to work either of the available shifts
  • Must be willing to work weekends and overtime as required (sometimes with short notice)
  • Proven track record on safety and quality
  • Solid mechanical aptitude, and basic math skills
  • Ability to interface with computer and enter data into various software platforms
  • Demonstrated work performance to be self-directed and self-motivated
  • Ability to follow written instructions and procedures as outlined, consistently and reliably in accordance with all safety quality expectations
  • Professional attitude and good communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates that possess a technical degree or apprenticeship certification are preferred
  • Experience working in packaging manufacturing industry is preferred
  • At least 2 years of prior industrial maintenance experience is highly preferred
  • Previous CMMS experience desired

Responsibilities

  • Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the facility’s equipment.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
  • Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities.
  • Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities.
  • Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
  • Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Additional duties may be assigned by management.
