About The Position

SUMMARY: The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing all mechanical equipment and surrounding facilities without supervision or assistance. This job description has been amended to accommodate the employees 15-pound lift/carry restriction with his upper left extremity. QUALIFICATIONS to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements

  • HS Diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of industrial/mechanical/electrical trade school or 5 years of experience as a maintenance mechanic or electrician in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to attend all job related training classes to increase job knowledge and improve job performance.
  • Ability to read and understand standard operating procedures and customer specifications.
  • Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts using calculator.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Data entry helpful
  • The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to finger, handle or feel.
  • The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • This employee has a 15-pound lift/carry restriction with left upper extremity.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close visions and ability to adjust focus.
  • Employee subject to company rules, regulations and GMP’s.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety, food safety, & GMP rules and regulations.
  • Possess the electrical competency to diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions down to circuit board level.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair equipment to “like new” state when required.
  • Work unassisted and unsupervised to job completion in a timely and proficient manner.
  • Maintain or exceed speed and efficiency while maintaining or improving quality of work.
  • Operate mechanical equipment to diagnose problems and determine necessary repairs.
  • Care for and use hand tools in the repair of equipment and structures.
  • Perform a wide variety of general building maintenance repairs.
  • Perform general preventative maintenance duties such as greasing oiling, etc.
  • Possess excellent technical and critical thinking skills.
  • Well versed in a broad spectrum of trades.
  • Must provide own hand tools and tool box.
  • Identify issues that he/she is not able to rectify and communicate them promptly to the Maintenance Manager for assistance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for food safety and quality as well as reporting food safety and quality problems to personnel with authority if unable to initiate action.
