About The Position

This role will support production and engineering needs of facility. This person will handle general plant maintenance and repairs. The maintenance mechanic also performs preventive maintenance and keeps equipment in good operating condition.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Substantial (minimum of five years) of maintenance experience.
  • The maintenance experience should be in the maintenance department of a chemical manufacturing plant or similar experience in a chemical manufacturing plant.
  • Experience rebuilding pumps.
  • Proven verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to make progress on multiple concurrent tasks.
  • Demonstrate the skills to perform a variety of maintenance functions: perform work effectively without need for rework.
  • Be skilled in one or more maintenance trades including basic electrical, instrument, piping and mechanical by ability.
  • He must be able to handle job assignments in general plant maintenance without close supervision.
  • Understanding various mechanical tools and instruments, examples are torque wrenches and laser alignment tools.
  • Capable of installing mechanical seals.
  • Capable of troubleshooting mechanical systems.
  • Licensed in forklift operation.

Nice To Haves

  • Trade school certification in pump repairs, and welding preferred.
  • Education or knowledge of basic pipe fitting.
  • Education or knowledge of pumps, welding, and assembly
  • Education or knowledge of 120 VAC wiring
  • Proven “hands on” skills that include pump repairs, fabrication, and welding stick and tig.
  • Certified in rigging.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and perform pump, gearbox, and motor repair / replacement.
  • Perform non-certified welding, cutting, and burning.
  • Perform mechanical power transmission coupling and sheave alignment using laser tools where applicable.
  • Complete process and utility piping.
  • Basic building facilities, building and grounds maintenance.
  • Participate in workflow process, including kitting, work order generation, work order closure.
  • Complete all work instructional and forms relating to maintenance, safety and preventive maintenance, keep paperwork neat.
  • Work hours as assigned: be available for emergency repairs when scheduled. Be able to cover scheduled call out work.
  • Report any nonconformance in operation and make recommendations for corrective and preventive actions.
  • Perform in role requirements associated with safe work permitting processes, including hot work and confined space.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with the Responsible Care Management System®.
