About The Position

The Parker Jewish Institute, located in New Hyde Park NY, is seeking a Full Time Maintenance Mechanic to join our building services team in our skilled nursing facility on a temporary basis. A vital and important part of the team you will ensure the facility and its equipment are in good working condition to ensure the comfort and safety of our residents. Position Overview As a Maintenance Mechanic at Parker Jewish Institute, you will be responsible for general building repairs and preventative maintenance assignments. An essential part of the building services team, you will carry out assignments, inspections and maintenance of gas, plumbing, electrical, electronic, HVAC systems, painting, grounds maintenance, as well as other assignments as needed. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Four (4) years of apprenticeship training in one or more trades (documented) or four (4) years of experience in the carpentry, electrical, painting, plumbing, masonry, or one of the mechanical trades
  • Must have a clean and active NYS Driver's License
  • Must have and maintain a valid FDNY and G71 certificate of fitness required by FDNY
  • Will be friendly and sociable and be able to provide comfort to patients with good interpersonal skills - both verbal and in writing
  • Team member - with a collaborative, team-based work environment, we are looking for individuals who embrace a high level of care, compassion and teamwork
