About The Position

We empower people to break the cycles of homelessness, welfare dependency, substance abuse, and incarceration through innovative work and housing programs. We are presently seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to join our team. The Maintenance Mechanic reports to the Director of Facilities and is responsible for the overall maintenance and operation of the physical, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems of the facility. Requirements

  • Understand basics to operate email, text and calendar apps on devices.
  • Understand training apps on devices.
  • Understand basic New York City Fire Department and Department of Building codes and regulations.
  • Basic understanding of Building Plans.
  • Basic knowledge of Preventive maintenance procedures.
  • 2 years of Building Maintenance experience.
  • High School Diploma.
  • Proficient in organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize work order systems (Jack Jaffa) for tracking maintenance issues and repairs adding before and after photos.
  • Maintain all properties within The Doe Fund policies and within NYC Building codes, including DOB, FDNY, and HPD.
  • Follow assigned schedule for work days and shifts.
  • Escort Vendors and City agency representatives as needed.
  • Dress in Uniforms provided by The Doe Fund while on shifts.
  • Stay up to date on all safety rules.
  • Maintain tools, Power tools, and Equipment.
  • Complete all assigned training in a timely manner.
  • Notify supervisors when low on supplies.
  • Travel to other sites will be required at times to assist in repairs and maintenance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
