About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting malfunctions on various equipment including engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines. This role involves using precision measuring and testing instruments, hoists, cranes, and various hand and power tools. Key duties also include fabricating repair parts, maintaining equipment and supply inventory, and preparing maintenance reports. Additionally, the mechanic will handle facility maintenance tasks such as plumbing, painting, drywall installation/removal, cubicle setup, equipment moves, and minor dock door and leveler repairs at the Garden Grove facilities. The position requires maintaining a safe and clean working environment and ensuring compliance with Quality Management System and Environmental Management System standards, as well as managing relationships with outside contractors.

  • Not scared of heights such as working from a flat roof, ladders and mobile elevated working platforms
  • Must be able to pass a test to operate a forklift and boom lift
  • Plumbing skills (clear clogged drains, re-route water lines, make repairs to toilets, sinks and urinals)
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting skills (replace and repair light fixtures, replace switches, read a voltage meter and troubleshoot minor electrical issues)
  • Basic knowledge of fire suppression systems, compressed air, HVAC and exhaust fans in order to complete PM’s assigned
  • Associate degree or completion of qualified apprenticeship program
  • Minimum of 2 year of related work experience
  • Self-motivated
  • Knowledge of inventory systems
  • Capable of utilizing basic math skills
  • Capable of using scan guns and ERP software
  • Detail-oriented
  • Hilo certified or able to become certified in operating lift equipment
  • Must be able to clear drug screen and background check
  • Must have reliable transportation

Responsibilities

  • Completes preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines
  • Follows diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications
  • Troubleshoots malfunctions and listening for problems
  • Uses precision measuring and testing instruments
  • Uses hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools
  • Uses rulers, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges
  • Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques and monitoring compliance
  • Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment
  • Maintains equipment, parts, and supply inventory
  • Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results
  • Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests
  • Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
  • Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
  • Maintaining safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Performs machine and auxiliary equipment preventative measures
  • Performs assigned maintenance activities to ensure Garden Grove facilities are operating to meet quality requirements
  • Completes Labor Tickets with the knowledge and understanding of materials contained in the Document Center
  • Identifies and removes slip, trip, and fall hazards
  • Responsible for plumbing, painting, and drywall installation and/or removal
  • Set up cubicles and assist with equipment moves
  • Responsible for minor dock door and leveler repairs (Door adjustments, Cable replacement, Light electrical)
  • Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks
  • Ensures compliance with the Quality Management System and the Environmental Management System
  • Responsible for working with and maintaining relationships with outside contractors such as HVAC, Plumbers, Roofing, Dock service, and Lawn Care providers
