About The Position

The Mechanic will be responsible for locating sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation. Mechanics remove defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts. The Mechanic determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments. Additionally, Mechanics will need to document any maintenance that may take place.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • Vocational school in related subjects desired; demonstrated mechanical ability; six months or more related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Regularly required to stand for long periods; use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools and controls; reach with hands and arms.
  • Good handgrip strength is required.
  • Good hand-eye coordination is essential.
  • Frequently required to climb, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Work near moving mechanical part, and occasionally in outside weather conditions.
  • Ability to work in high room temperatures and humidity.
  • Exposed to and/or inhale fumes and/or airborne particles from cleaning fluids, mineral oil, synthetic gear oils, paint and Isopropyl Alcohol.
  • Exposed to machine parts operating at extremely high temperatures.

  • Read a ruler in 1/32 of inch increments, dials, micrometers and various pieces of measuring equipment to within .001 of inch accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Performs scheduled preventive maintenance and repairs on cup packagers and carton sealing.
  • Perform preventive maintenance of Paper Machinery (PMC) and Thermoforming Cup Forming Machines.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repair of carton sealer and related conveying equipment.
  • Properly and accurately, complete all required records keeping, ordering and other necessary paperwork.
  • Proper use and adherence to Lockout/Tagout Procedures.
  • Must follow precise instructions and directions.
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical diagrams.
  • Perform other duties as directed.
  • Practice good housekeeping.
  • Obey all safety rules, regulations and policies.
  • Perform tool changeovers on PMC and Sherwood cup forming machines.
