Job Class 005, Labor Grade 1 Performs mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic repair on plant equipment and facilities. Examines machines to find trouble; dismantles machines, replaces defective parts using standard repair or replacement parts; reassembles machines and makes necessary adjustments to insure efficient operations. Reads and interprets blue-prints and schematic diagrams. Work will involve installation and aligning equipment and work of several trades such as carpentry, electrical, welding, plumbing, etc. Instructs and teaches maintenance employees of a lower labor grade as directed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Must be capable of performing mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical repair on plant equipment, facilities and building. Must be able to read and interpret blue-prints and schematic diagrams. Must have completed Maintenance Trainee Labor Grade 3 or equivalent in experience and/or formal technical training. Must be able to perform all mechanical phases of major projects such as the installation of complicated equipment. Must be capable of instructing and teaching maintenance employees of a lower grade. Must be able to perform all functions with minimum supervision. OBSERVE PROPER SAFETY PRACTICES AT ALL TIMES. Must be available for overtime as needed to keep equipment operating. Must have complete set of hand tools.
