Job Class 005, Labor Grade 1 Performs mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic repair on plant equipment and facilities. Examines machines to find trouble; dismantles machines, replaces defective parts using standard repair or replacement parts; reassembles machines and makes necessary adjustments to insure efficient operations. Reads and interprets blue-prints and schematic diagrams. Work will involve installation and aligning equipment and work of several trades such as carpentry, electrical, welding, plumbing, etc. Instructs and teaches maintenance employees of a lower labor grade as directed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Must be capable of performing mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical repair on plant equipment, facilities and building. Must be able to read and interpret blue-prints and schematic diagrams. Must have completed Maintenance Trainee Labor Grade 3 or equivalent in experience and/or formal technical training. Must be able to perform all mechanical phases of major projects such as the installation of complicated equipment. Must be capable of instructing and teaching maintenance employees of a lower grade. Must be able to perform all functions with minimum supervision. OBSERVE PROPER SAFETY PRACTICES AT ALL TIMES. Must be available for overtime as needed to keep equipment operating. Must have complete set of hand tools. The incumbent is expected to understand that all employees have a shared responsibility for the quality of products and related services provided to our customers. Duties and responsibilities are to be carried out in accordance with the PTC Quality Management System and its policies, procedures, and work instructions as applicable to the job or function being performed. PTC is a leading manufacturer and marketer of welded and cold drawn mechanical steel tubing and tubular shapes, plated bar and tubing, and fabricated parts and precision components.

  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using while numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must be computer literate and able to work with programs such as Word, Excel, etc., and be able to learn and use HP programs such as e-mail, ERP system, etc.
  • Must have knowledge on simple computer programming.
  • Requires excellent measurement skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions from technical parameters.
  • Perform duties proficiently, and be able to work in a fast paced environment with ability to handle and prioritize multiple competing tasks and demands.

  • Must be able to work flexible schedules and hours.
  • Must be able to safely lift and load 50lbs.
