About The Position

GenCorr Packaging, an affiliate of Schwarz Partners, is currently seeking a Maintenance Mechanic (11:00 AM - 8:00 PM) to support our Alsip, IL corrugated manufacturing facility. The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the overall plant and equipment maintenance. This role safely performs heavy repairs and manufacturing machine repairs, including robotics, electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, plumbing and electrical repairs as necessary. The mechanic may also be called on for interior and exterior building and office upkeep. The Royal Group’s mission is to provide value-added solutions to the most demanding customers.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma (or GED) or higher.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in overall maintenance in a manufacturing setting.
  • Knowledge of box plant machinery and tooling preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams and instruction books.
  • Knowledge of computers and automated machines.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and OSHA regulations.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of box plant machinery and tooling preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform work at the highest level of safety – including but not limited to completing hazard assessments, lock out/tag out operations and using proper PPE.
  • Responsible for coordinating the overall maintenance program, which includes ensuring that all equipment is on a preventative maintenance program.
  • Carry out maintenance and repair projects in all mechanical, fabrication, welding, plumbing, and electrical functions.
  • Ensure that all items associated with the plant and mechanical safety are immediately addressed.
  • Schedule and coordinate with the Production team to conduct preventative maintenance and repairs efficiently to minimize downtime and waste.
  • Utilize work order and corrective action work order practices and procedures to ensure that work is properly performed and completed and documented.
  • Manage and coordinate appropriate parts and supply inventories needed to ensure continuous operations.
  • Seek ways to reduce maintenance work, lengthen service life between repairs, improve uptime, improve procedures and conserve energy.
  • Keep appropriate management informed of problems or situations that may affect the performance of the plant.
  • Meet with customers, suppliers, and vendors as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations, including federal and/or state required environmental systems, OSHA Safety and Health rules, and standard operating procedures.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
